What is CAL FinLit ?
CAL FinLit’s are financial awareness sessions CAL provides to company employees in collaboration with a wide range of businesses.
In these 30-45 minute sessions, we talk to employees on a diverse array of financial topics including the importance of saving and investing, the basics of easy to access investment products, and how to understand, access and benefit from Sri Lanka’s financial markets.
The sessions are usually carried out in person and in English, although we have accommodated several online and Sinhala language sessions as well.
To date, over 1000 employees across 17 organizations have benefitted from CAL’s FinLit session, which are provided completely free of charge to all Sri Lankan businesses.
The problem at hand
Employees are paid competitive salaries when compared to local peers, but a lack of financial knowledge results in low savings rates and perpetual financial uncertainty.
In addition, Sri Lanka’s poor financial literature rates and lack of proper financial education channels make gathering accurate information on the topic challenging for most employees.

How CAL can help
CAL collaborates with businesses to conduct FinLit sessions for employees, covering a range of financial topics which are relevant to your staff.
These can include anything from basic guides to saving and investing, to even slightly more advanced topics like reasons behind USD/LKR currency fluctuations, depending on the employer’s requirement.
